Building a Bill of Materials (BOM)
Building a Bill of Materials (BOM)
A BOM is the recipe for a finished product — the materials and quantities required to make one unit.
Creating a BOM
- Go to Karya → BOM → + New BOM
- Select the finished product
- Add components: raw material, quantity per unit, and unit of measure
- Optionally add operations (steps) and their work centers
Example
For one wooden chair:
- Kayu jati — 1.5 m
- Sekrup — 12 pcs
- Cat finishing — 0.2 L
Multi-Level BOMs
A component can itself be a sub-assembly with its own BOM (e.g. a chair frame). Karya supports nested BOMs so you can plan complex products.
Scrap & Yield
Account for waste by adding a scrap percentage per material, so material planning reflects real consumption.
Costing
Karya rolls up component costs to calculate the estimated production cost (HPP) per finished unit — useful for pricing.
Versioning
Keep multiple BOM versions when a product design changes, and mark one as active for new work orders.
